Swarming the EPL: UNU’s Picks for May 5th

Last week in the Premier League was incredibly interesting…provided you weren’t trying to predict the winners of games. A number of sides competing to make a top four finish ended up slogging their way to draws that did little else beyond helping ensure that Chelsea and Tottenham escape to the top of the table together.

This week, many of those same teams – Man. City, United, Arsenal and Liverpool – will once again try to assert a claim to third or fourth in the League. At the same time at the bottom of the table, we have Hull City, Swansea, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace try to get clear of a relegation zone that’s already claimed its first victim of 2017 in Sunderland. With so many teams still with so much to play for, Unanimous A. I. brought together a swarm of footie fans to predict this week’s matches.

One match that leaps out from this week’s chart is the one to be played between visiting Sunderland and homestanding Hull City. Three weeks ago perhaps the UNU Swarm rates this match a close one, maybe even a draw. As mentioned, though, Sunderland has already clinched relegation for the season and will be sent down. That potential lack of motivation on the part of The Black Cats would rate them poorly in a match this weekend. That they travel to Hull City to play a team that is desperately fighting to keep their own side out of the relegation zone adds an extra layer of competitiveness. As a result, the UNU Swarm is all in on Hull City here, as you can see below.

Every week swarms on UNU pick the winners of Premier League games, NHL games, movie box office numbers, and even consider trends in politics and popular culture. If you’d like to get our predictions emailed to you weekly, please drop us a line below.
