Swarming MLB: AI Pick for Game 6 of the World Series

AI FORECASTS ASTROS BEHIND VERLANDER, BUT WITH MIXED SIGNALS

They’ve been playing the World Series since the 1900s, but even in 100-plus years, we’ve never had a game quite like the craziness of Game Five of the World Series. The Astros overcame two separate three-run deficits, and then the Dodgers overcame a late three-run lead by Houston as well.

The win on Sunday puts the Astros on the verge of clinching the 2017 World Series. Tonight they’ll send Justin Verlander to the mound. Since being acquired from the Tigers late in the season, Verlander has been a shutdown pitcher. The Dodgers are the team that’s come closest to beating him, nicking him for a few runs in Game Two. Los Angeles will send Rich Hill out to face him tonight in a rematch of that second game. In predicting this evening’s potential craziness, the Baseball Swarm sends us some mixed signals. They like Verlander to last longer in the game than Hill, but they also think the Houston bullpen will be more suspect than Los Angeles’. The swarm picked Houston to win the first World Series in their franchise’s history tonight, but with very limited conviction. This looks like a high risk play to us.
