Swarming the EPL: UNU’s Picks for the Weekend of April 1st

A.I. LOOKS TO EXTEND ITS EPL HOT STREAK

After a two week break for international play, the Premier League is back this weekend with some of the most anticipated games of the year. The League is in crunch time, with heavy implications for many teams. Finish in the top five or six and your football club plays Euro League next season, earning a nice revenue boost and making it more attractive to potential international players. Finish in the bottom three and your side is relegated, with your team losing money, players, and fan support. With “All to play for” as they say, Unanimous A. I. was eager to once again convene an UNU Swarm of EPL fans to predict this weekend’s matches. In the last set of games before the break, UNU posted a sparkling 7-2 record. This past week, another Unanimous AI swarm went 8-3 picking NHL games, including ordering those picks perfectly by confidence.

This week UNU is looking at some tough matches around the League. When cross-town rivals Liverpool and Everton get together, it’s typically a donnybrook, but this weekend’s clash is important for the standings and the potential to be epic. Everton’s steady climb up the table has them on the verge of cracking that important top five position, and one of the teams in range above them happens to be…Liverpool. Can the Toffees win their first match at Anfield in 18 years?

While pundits and bookmakers are talking this up as a close match, UNU isn’t so sure. The replay shows the swarm believing that Liverpool waltzes to a Merseyside double, having beaten Everton earlier in the year on the Toffees’ home pitch. The replay also shows how adaptable UNU can be. It’s notable that in recent past weeks the UNU Swarm has been a bit down on the Reds, while showing tremendous confidence in an Everton side who have seemed on a mission since January. With that said, it’s perhaps likely that the UNU Swarm participants are mindful that Liverpool have played their best games against other quality opponents. Perhaps the fans in the swarm are also aware that it is closing in on twenty years since the last Everton win at Anfield.

The chart above shows all of the UNU Premiership Swarm’s picks for this weekend. There are plenty of other interesting games to keep an eye on. Can the determined Tottenham offense crack the defensive juggernaut of “Fortress Turf Moor” when they visit Burnley? (UNU likes the Spurs’ chances). Is Arsene Wenger mailing it in for a weakened Arsenal side? (UNU thinks that could be the case.) The predictions collected by Unanimous A. I. show a lot of confidence headed into the weekend’s games.

Every week swarms on UNU pick the winners of Premier League, NHL, and Major League baseball games. UNU Swarms also forecast trends in politics and popular culture. Check our blog for the picks, and drop us a line below to stay in the loop with all things UNU.
