Swarming EPL: AI Picks for Week 28

After taking a week off for FA Cup games (yes, go ahead with all the jokes about Manchester City’s impromptu “vacation”), this weekend the Premiership is back in action with a full slate of games. We’re now heading into the final quarter of the season, and although City appear to have the League title wrapped up, there’s still much to play for.

Over the next 11 weeks, there will be bitter fights to get into the top four UEFA competition in the top half of the table, as well as teams going all out to escape relegation at the bottom of the standings. With these battles in mind, the weekly EPL Swarm made this set of predictions for the weekend matches.

As the chart shows, this week has few games the swarm feels strongly confident in. The matches between the two Manchester clubs and two of London’s heavy hitters offer no sure bets, so the swarm instead likes Liverpool to win at home against West Ham, while making Tottenham the pick of the week in their road game against their crosstown rivals Crystal Palace.

In typical Spurs fashion, they’ve managed to be maddeningly inconsistent throughout the 2018 campaign, despite looking very much like a top four team of late. The swarm thinks they’ll handle an injury-depleted Palace side with relative ease on Sunday, as shown in the replay above.  The magnets form a very rapid consensus on the Tottenham side of the hex and move to a two-goal margin prediction. The only caution we’d be remiss to not mention is that the swarm placed a relatively small $60 hypothetical wager on this outcome. That may simply be the group’s awareness of that inconsistent “That’s so Spursy” reputation that this year’s team has done little to shake.

Every week, researchers at Unanimous AI gather a Swarm of EPL fans to predict all of the weekend’s action. Want to join the Swarm, or just have the picks delivered to your inbox? Click the button below…
