What’s the right move for Bernie Sanders?

All over cable news, the pundits are debating what Bernie Sanders should do next.  Should he get out of the race?  Is he hurting Hillary by pushing forward to California?  Is he bringing new voters into the Democratic party?  Is he helping to push a more progressive agenda?

There are many views, but nothing the pundits say reveals what the VOTERS really think.  So, researchers at Unanimous A.I. decided to ask the voting public directly.  No, they didn’t take poll or survey – they used their unique technology, Swarm Intelligence, to have voters converge on the answer they can best agree upon. This method has been show to provide more accurate insights than polls of far larger sample sizes.

So, what should Bernie do next? Researchers asked this question to the Swarm Intelligence, point blank, and got a surprising answer.  Here is a replay of that swarm, comprised of 93 likely Democratic voters:

what should BERNIE do next (small)

Researchers also asked democratic voters, what Hillary should do about Bernie.  As you can see below, a range of options were offered, in an attempt to tap into the true emotions of the party.  Surprisingly, this swarm of 134 likely voters didn’t go for one lesser compromise position:

What should HILLARY do about BERNIE (10 fps)

Now, you might be wondering why this outcome does not quite conform to the latest polls?  That’s because polls do not allow groups to converge on solutions that optimize their collective satisfaction.  But swarms do, and in fact we can look under the hood and see how this swarm reached the decision above:

Faction Analysis 2 for Hillary do with Bernie

What’s interesting about this graph, is how it changes over time.  At time=0, the data reflects the static views you’d get if you took a poll or survey.  But, that’s not a conclusion – it’s indecision – the group evenly split between those who think Hillary should pick Bernie as VP, and those who think Hillary should let Bernie Bern.  But, when forming a real-time dynamic system that empowers the group to think together, explore the options, and converge upon the solution the optimizes their collective group satisfaction, decision is reached – make Bernie VP.

These two outcomes, combined, suggest that Bernie and Hillary should team up.  After all, Hillary is currently in a dead-heat with Trump based on all the latest national polls.  She should certainly use an edge, and it seems that votes believe that edge could be Bernie and his enthusiastic supporters.

Is that realistic?  Hard to say.  There could be too much bad blood, or just too many differences of perspective between the two camps.  That said, supporters of both Bernie and Hillary can agree on one thing – they absolutely don’t want Donald Trump in the White House.  That could be enough to unite them.  And that might be a very smart move to optimize satisfaction among democratic voters, at least according to UNU.

Digging further, researchers wanted to know what other hot-button issues resonated with voters.  Of all the questions asked, the one that jumped out the strongest was Trump’s tax returns.  Trump keeps saying that voters simply don’t care, but according to UNU, they actually care a lot.  Overwhelmingly, voters seem eager to see Trump’s returns:

Should TRUMP release his TAXES b

What’s particularly interesting is how strong of a consensus formed.  The group was mildly split at the start, but quickly converged upon an overwhelming consensus.  This can be seen by looking under the hood at the real-time faction analysis for the 127 participants in this swarm:

Trump Taxes Faction

So, what’s UNU’s recommendation for the Democratic Party?  By forming a Swarm Intelligence and asking it questions, the current outlook seems clear – a good way to take on Trump is for Hillary to put Bernie on the ticket, and for the pair to be relentless about demanding Trump’s tax returns.  Of course, this is just one side of the picture.  Next week, researchers at Unanimous A.I. will ask a swarm to make recommendations for how the GOP can optimize it’s decision-making process.
