With the transfer window closing tight on Wednesday, the Premier League table shows why so many teams are eager to get something finished before month-end. From Swansea City sitting at 20 to Watford at 10, there’s only 6 points of separation. And yet there are 8 points separating Watford in 10th from Burnley in 8th position. To carry that to conclusion, mighty Man. City sits 12 points clear of 2nd place United. That bunching up of teams creates a steep level of difficulty each week for our regular Premiership Swarm to untangle.
Taking on lowly West Bromwich Albion at home, it’s little surprise that the swarm picked City as their best bet pick of the week. The prediction just under that is one that we’ll highlight this week, though. The swarm chose Chelsea at home over Bournemouth in a game that looks like a walkover for the Blues, at least on paper.
What’s interesting here is that the consensus that forms for a Chelsea win here is just as strong – if not stronger – than the unanimity the swarm showed in picking Man. City. But then the swarm decided to only place an $80 confidence tag on Chelsea even so. While we can’t definitively tell you why there was some reluctance to go with full confidence here, we can mention that our swarm participants have memories, and they may well remember Chelsea’s weird goalless start to the month as if chasing an obscure record for games ending nil-nil. Although the Blues may have fixed their offensive challenges, the swarm seems to want to be fully convinced of that before going all in on a $100 confidence.
