AI Picks for the NFL: Week 9

The NFL Swarm is on what can only be considered a ridiculous forecasting streak. Two weeks ago, the weekly gathering of fans produced a perfect set of picks in its highest confidence tier, resulting in a tidy 4x Return on Investment. That result should be good enough to satisfy even the most demanding of customers, but the NFL Swarm was not done. In Week 8, every single one of the AI’s nine most confident picks ( that is, every pick in the two highest tiers ) won, which empowered one bold member of the swarm to pocket a 1,500% return.

With that in mind, the NFL Swarm put together its Week 9 forecast, including three matchups worthy of the Best Picks designation and another six in the next highest confidence tier. While no financial advisor would advocate a strategy based around a nine-team parlay like that last one, the ranked forecast is important because it’s one thing to pick winners between two teams, but it’s even more important to know which games are worthy of higher confidence.

One matchup that provides some insight into how the NFL Swarm ranks its predictions is New England and Green Bay. These are two teams led by two of the best signal-callers in football history in Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, but the Brady seems to have just a little more talent around him, and the Patriots’ resulting 6-2 record is a clear improvement on the Packers’ 4-3 tally. Consider also that New England is playing at home, and the NFL Swarm was just shy of tagging a New England victory as a “Best Pick.”

And yet, Aaron Rodgers. He’s simply not the type of quarterback anyone likes to bet against, especially when he’s getting more than field goal. Both Brady and Rodgers are masters of the two-minute drill and the game-winning drive to settle a close game. So it makes sense that the NFL Swarm would believe that the safest bet between these two historic quarterbacks is that it’s going to come down to less than a touchdown, and the best play in that scenario is to take the points.

That said, the Green Bay +6 forecast is relegated to the lowest tier of confidence in the Against the Spread chart, a fact that underscores just how unpredictable the matchup between two elite quarterbacks can be. As you can see in the breakdown below, once again the only team worthy of a high confidence pick Against the Spread is the Kansas City Chiefs. Until proven otherwise, the NFL Swarm seems perfectly content to ride with Patrick Mahomes and company. Chiefs fans would have no quibble with that.
