After months of auditions, rehearsals and impassioned performances, tonight NBC’s The Voice will crown its season 14 champion. Fans will select either Spensha Baker, Britton Buchanan, Brynn Cartelli, or Kyla Jade in a competition that many online pundits have described as more unpredictable than any previous Voice season.
The swarm of avid Voice fans assembled each week by Unanimous AI stayed consistent throughout the various elimination rounds. The group latched onto Brynn as their singer to beat early on, and even with some wavering have stayed the course with her. Will they change their minds today?
As the chart above shows, the swarm felt renewed confidence in their prediction for Brynn, after seeing the performer they picked out back at the start of the elimination rounds end up in the finals. They see her being four times more likely to win than their second choice, Britton Buchanan.
In the replay, you can see how rapidly the consensus forms for a high confidence prediction that Brynn Cartelli will win it all tonight. While there were definitely a few Britton holdouts, the replay shows an answer where there’s a high degree of agreement across participants in the swarm group. It’s interesting to see what forms the basis of that confidence.
The Voice, more than any other network singing or talent competition, prides itself on being about the singing ability of the contestants. And though the ability to arrange songs and perform and connect with audiences are also important, the swarm’s conviction that Brynn is the most likely to win seems based on a strong foundation of her vocal talent.
Unanimous will be fielding swarms throughout 2018 to track the sentiment of the American public and to identify the trends and behaviors that are shaping our future. If you would like to stay informed of our research, sign up below.
