Experts predict that more than 2016 will be the biggest Cyber Monday in history, with sales expected to top $3.36 billion in revenue. If that number seems high, that’s because it is. In fact, it’s almost 10% higher than last year’s previous record. With so much cash changing hands, retailers are doing everything they can to offer customers the best possible deals. But all those offers can make Cyber Monday confusing for the customer. And no market is more crowded on Cyber Monday than consumer electronics.
Fortunately, the Verge published a list of the 15 Best Deals for Cyber Monday, ranging from 4K TVs to headphones and everything in between. But, the deal-lovers at Unanimous AI, wanted to see if UNU’s unique Swarm Intelligence could help you narrow Verge’s list even further. After all, UNU lets people think together as a closed-loop system, using swarming algorithms to converge on optimized answers with uncanny accuracy. Why not turn the power of the Swarm loose on Cyber Monday?
To narrow the Verge’s list down, the Swarm was asked to identify the least desirable deal and then the process was repeated until the most desirable deal was revealed.
This process revealed not only which deals the Swarm felt were least desirable, it also shows how the Swarm arrived at its decision, which options it considered, and which ones were never really on the table. As you can see in the chart below, the Acer Chromebook dominated the mindshare on this question, while the Dell Inspiron 15inch touchscreen and Sony XB950BT Wireless Headphones received only small slivers of support.
As you’d expect, the Sony headphones and the Dell Inspiron laptop would eventually be named the two most desirable deals on the Verge’s list, just ahead of the Vizio 4K TV ( $378, down from $528), Google Home ($99 down from $130), XBox One Battlefield bundle ($254.99 down from $299), and the aforementioned Acer Chromebook. But who would the Swarm ultimately choose as the best Cyber Monday deal?
As you can see, the Sony headphones were slightly less appealing than the Dell laptop, which now takes home the crown as the Swarm’s favorite pick for Cyber Monday. That puts the Dell in good company, as previous Swarm picks have gone on to win the Kentucky Derby, the World Series, the Stanley Cup and more. So, according to the Swarm at least, if you’re in the market for a new laptop, dude, you ( should be ) getting a Dell.
