Swarming the NHL: AI Picks for Week 16

The National Hockey League is coming up fast on its weekend All-Star Game break with a jam-packed schedule of games tonight. Tuesday’s slate includes some interesting matchups featuring teams on winning streaks who’ll hate the upcoming pause in the season…and also teams that are fading from the playoff picture for whom the time off can’t come quickly enough. The weekly NHL Swarm took a hard look at tonight’s games, and came up with these predictions.

Each week after predicting all the individual games, we present the swarm with its most confident picks and ask it to choose one above all others as a best bet, pick-of-the-night. This week that came down to the swarm choosing between either the red-hot Bruins at home against New Jersey, or the even hotter Colorado Avalanche – riding a 10-game winning streak – playing in Montreal. The swarm ended up going with Boston playing at home and the replay below shows us why.

As you can see above, that is about as close to a unanimous, one-sided pull on magnets as we’re ever likely to get.  The NHL Swarm has had no qualms about riding Boston as its hot horse over the last few weeks, and they obviously don’t see a reason to stop tonight.
