Today’s NHL Swarm is the penultimate regular season gathering of the group of NHL fans who have convened each week to predict the outcome of hockey games. (The swarm will of course have Stanley Cup playoff predictions coming next month!) The group has an interesting slate of games to consider tonight, as clubs around the league make their closing arguments before the postseason begins.
After looking like they might spiral out of playoff contention back in December, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been firing on all cylinders since the start of 2018. This week the defending Stanley Cup champions are the NHL Swarm’s pick of the night, and the replay below shows how confident that choice is.
The Pens are playing a Detroit team that seems to have lost interest at this point. The Wings have been out of the playoff picture for a while, and appear to be doing everything they can to boost their draft prospects come summer. The swarm almost unanimously picks a Penguins 2-goal win here. While that’s not a specific recommendation with the spread, by choosing that level of confidence we know that the swarm has very strong confidence in the Penguins to win this game.
