The marathon NHL season started when the first pucks hit the ice back in October. Over the course of the last six months, team have waxed (the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins), waned (Blackhawks and Blues, RIP), and held things steady (the remarkable Golden Knights). Today marks the last regular season NHL Swarm, and it gives the group one last chance to evaluate teams with something to play for in this final week.
Most of the games on tonight’s schedule have some degree of postseason importance, and the swarm was able to make some confident decisions as a result. The game they made their pick of the week involves the surging Columbus Blue Jackets and their 12-1-1 record over the last month hosting the Detroit Red Wings, a team that will miss the playoffs and is reduced to playing a spoiler role.
Although the Red Wings have won three straight games, the swarm still made Columbus a confident prediction and pick of the night. The replay above shows the magnets (each of which represents an individual participating in the swarm) coming to a fast decision on the Blue Jackets and a two-goal victory. The swarm later picked this game – over Vegas hosting Vancouver – as its pick of the night.
