Through the first few weeks of Unanimous AI convening a weekly swarm to predict the outcome of NBC’s singing show, The Voice, certain results have felt like foregone conclusions. Brynn was far and away the best contestant, and that was that. This week, ahead of a double elimination show that will take the Voice from 10 singers down to 8, things got a little interesting. Winds of change may be blowing!
First, to address the obvious, Brynn remains the Voice Swarm’s prediction as the likeliest to win. But as we look a little more deeply into that, the 72% chance the swarm gave her last week (which was very confident) has slipped down to a less-sure 57%. Britton looks like he’s gaining popularity with the swarm, and there’s even some potential wiggle room at the top for a dark horse like Pryor Baird.
Tonight’s biggest drama on the show is going to involve the elimination of two contestants from the competition. That gives the swarm a chance to take a closer look at the group of singers bunched in the middle and towards the bottom of the overall ranking. There’s definitely some movement in that area from the last two weeks. For example, it’s clear that Christiana Danielle (who was on the verge of elimination last week) helped herself immensely with a strong performance on Monday, and now seems safe for tonight. In fact, the group thinks that it’s Rayshun LaMarr, Jackie Verna, and Kaleb Lee who should be nervous this evening.
The replay above shows a fascinating swarm answer. The group had “saved” all singers in the competition down to this final three. And as such, they knew that the two singers they didn’t choose this time would be the two that they were predicting to be the ones sent home. Thus, there are two things going on in that replay. First, the magnets are completely at loggerheads between Jackie and Kaleb. Second, there are no magnets willing to predict that poor Rayshun would survive tonight’s culling.
You can see how closely it all ended up in the first chart. The Voice Swarm thinks Rayshun is clearly the most likely to depart on tonight’s show. For the question of who’ll join him, however, the answer gets murkier. Jackie Verna is the next most likely choice, with the swarm attaching a 42% likelihood of her elimination. But Kaleb Lee isn’t far behind, with a 40% probability he’s one of the two performers sent home.
Unanimous will be fielding swarms throughout 2018 to track the sentiment of the American public and to identify the trends and behaviors that are shaping our future. If you would like to stay informed of our research, sign up below.
