China recently announced the completion of the world’s largest radio telescope. The $180M telescope’s stated goal is to “search for gravitational waves, detect radio emissions from stars and galaxies and listen for signs of intelligent extraterrestrial life.” And since no one loves aliens more than we do here at UNU, we couldn’t help but ask the Swarm what we should expect to find.
While the possibility of the Swarm being right on this one fills my heart with joy, I have to point that the Swarm had a slightly less enthusiastic reaction to the obvious follow-up question. If, we wanted to know, such incredible things await the Chinese, should the US rush to build their own massive telescope?
Bummer. Someone get Elon Musk on the line.
