Swarming MLB: UNU’s Picks for May 26th

The Memorial Day holiday weekend and Major League Baseball are a match made in heaven. The two are practically a Norman Rockwell painting waiting to happen, conjuring up mental images of outdoor grilling, cold beer, and crackly transistor radio broadcasts. The end of May is also the first quarter pole of the season, a marker that fans can use to assess their favorite team’s performance so far…and where they might go from here.

Unanimous A. I. brought together its weekly UNU Swarm of baseball fans to predict the outcome of games that kick off the holiday weekend. The swarm is on a bit of a hot streak right now, coming off an eye-popping 12-3 performance on Tuesday. That said, it’s worth mentioning that for the first two months of the season, if something weird in baseball is going to happen, it’s tended to happen on Fridays. The swarm’s overall record has suffered as a result.

There are many factors to consider when predicting the outcome of a Major League Baseball game, but sometimes it’s as simple as focusing on the starting pitching. There are never guarantees in the sport, given how random occurrences seem to routinely factor in. However, when last-place San Diego pays a visit to the Nationals in DC, the pitching matchup of struggling youngster Luis Perdomo against the fearsome fastball of Mad Max Scherzer is one the swarm feels pretty confident in forecasting.

Every week during the MLB season, Unanimous A.I. will be conducting swarms to pick the outcomes of games. If you’d like to either join a swarm or just get the predictions weekly, feel free to drop us a line below.
