One of the distinguishing characteristics of the NBA is that – more than any other major North American sports – team quality, skill and talent correlates most strongly with a win in any given game. In football, the weather or a fumble can derail a team; in baseball, it can be one bad pitch at an inopportune time; for hockey, a fluke goal can make all the difference. In the NBA though, things typically shake out and run fairly true to form between competing teams.
This year’s NBA so far has been an exception. Many squads are playing to within one or two games of .500. Clubs that were expected to roll have struggled out of the gate. Eventually quality will win out in the Association, but determining figuring out which teams will take flight and which will stay grounded is tough right now. Tonight’s games, for example, represent a real quandary, but our weekly NBA Swarm did its best to sort them out.
That’s no misprint on the chart above. There’s simply not a lot separating the two teams in most of tonight’s games. The one standout is in OKC, where the Thunder host the scuffling Bulls. The swarm pounced on that matchup with a high amount of confidence expressed as Brainpower, hypothetical wagering confidence and magnet momentum. Overall, though, if you’re the type who enjoys a bet here and there on basketball games, tonight looks like a good night to keep your wallet in your pocket.
