Swarming the ACC: AI Basketball Picks for the Week of February 12th

With conference play underway in men’s college basketball across the country, researchers at Unanimous AI will be convening weekly NCAA hoops swarms throughout the rest of the season. A group of college basketball fans will be using the Swarm AI platform to predict the outcome of games through the conference tourneys and into March Madness next month.

There are hundreds of Division 1 colleges who compete in men’s basketball, so in order to narrow the field a bit, the research team at Unanimous has chosen to focus on the Atlantic Coast Conference. The ACC is host to some of the most storied programs in NCAA basketball history, and is currently projected to land as many as 9 or 10 teams in the Big Dance in March. Earlier today, the swarm of college hoops fans made these predictions for these ACC mid-week games:

This year’s college basketball season is one in which parity reigns supreme. There’s simply no one dominant team in the game in 2018, and it certainly complicates things for our group making their predictions.  How much parity is there? Last week, Virginia was ranked 2nd in the AP poll, and lost this weekend to unranked Virginia Tech and still moved to the top position in this week’s poll.

With the even spread of talent across the conference in the ACC, the NCAA Swarm still had a lot of confidence in North Carolina tonight, as you can see in the replay above. Notre Dame is going through a rebuilding season and playing on the road in Chapel Hill is no easy task even in the best circumstances. The swarm converged quickly, with almost all the magnets flowing to the right side of the hex immediately. The swarm backed up that confidence with an $100 hypothetical bet confidence, and chose the Tar Heels over Notre Dame as the pick of the week.

Every week, Unanimous AI publishes predictions made by its Swarm AI platform. Want to have those picks delivered to your inbox?
