It’s no secret America is facing tough choices right now. In a few short months, we’ll all be stepping into the voter’s booth with – if you believe the speeches over the last two weeks – the fate of the nation at stake. But while we agonize over this momentous decision, please spare a moment to think of poor JoJo, this year’s Bachelorette, who must also somehow choose between Robby the swimmer and Jordan the former quarterback.
I confess to not knowing much about how JoJo pared her potential suitors down to these two hunks, but that’s not going to stop me from watching Monday’s finale of one of the most popular reality shows on TV with a glass of wine in my hand. And since I don’t know who I should be rooting for ( or gambling on ), it makes sense to me to outsource my Bachelorette pick to a Swarm Intelligence.
The big idea behind Swarm Intelligence is that groups make better predictions together than individuals do on their own. And, since it works by tapping the group’s collective insights and intuitions, Swarm Intelligence actually seems like a perfect tool for figuring out who JoJo is going to choose on Monday night. At least it makes more sense than relying on my own non-existent wisdom.
So, who did the Swarm Intelligence say JoJo would pick in the Bachelorette finale?
This puts me in a difficult position. I happen to like Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers quarterback and older brother of Jordan. But, somewhat oddly, Aaron Rodgers does not seem to like his own brother very much and so it’s hard for me to root for Jordan to win JoJo’s final rose. Let’s just say my money is on Jordan but my heart is with Robby.
Fans of the show know that one of the most fun parts of the show is seeing which failed contestant becomes the next Bachelor or Bachelorette. And here, too, the Swarm has an opinion.
Luke it is! Seems like a good dude to me. He’s a veteran, a self-described “party-starter” and he lists Lonesome Dove, Forrest Gump, and Stepbrothers as his favorite movies. I’m officially on Team Luke now.
With all this said, perhaps the biggest question about the Bachelorette has not yet been asked. After all, what’s the point of all these roses, group dates, home visits and tears if not to find true love? So, we had to ask the Swarm, is it all really worth it?

UPDATE: So, yeah, the Swarm nailed it! Jordan took the final rose ( much to Twitter’s dismay ) and Luke seems to be on track to be named the next Bachelor. Congrats to the happy couple…
