This week the Premier League returns from its fortnight break for international play (or, golfing for Dutch and American players) as our weekly EPL Swarm looks at an exciting weekend of games. The biggest match on the slate is the North London Derby at Emirates Stadium of course, but after that game ends early on Saturday there’s still plenty of interesting action to be found. Here’s the way the swarm sees things.
As our chart shows, the swarm picked Tottenham in the Derby, but with no great conviction. The swarm also made Manchester City their pick of the week, but we’re growing tired of stating the obvious regarding how good the Sky Blues are. City have been our pick of the week – with good reason, mind you – an awful lot this year.
Instead, then, let’s talk about a team our swarm sees as being one on the upswing. Back in October, Liverpool were humiliated with a 4-1 loss to Tottenham, but rebounded with sound thrashings of Huddersfield Town and West Ham. This week the Reds host another middling team, Southampton, and the swarm likes their chances to keep things going. In the replay above you can see that there’s a high brainpower, even if the swarm is casting this as a close game. Even so, the high dollar wagering confidence and momentum we see (notice there are no magnets expressing any sentiment for the other side of the hex) have this contest just clearing the bar for a high confidence prediction.
