Swarming MLB: AI Pick for Game 5 of the World Series

AI LIKES DODGERS TO WIN A REMATCH OF GAME 1

Last night’s Game Four of the 2017 World Series turned from a pitcher’s duel early on to a battle of the bullpens late. The Dodgers came out on top, evening the series at two games apiece, and our swarm pretty much nailed it all. They said the Astros ‘pen would come up short (it did), and that the Dodgers would end up winning.

Tonight’s pivotal Game Five offers a rematch of the first game in the series, a battle between two lefthanded aces. For the Astros, it’s Dallas Keuchel on the mound. The Dodgers send Clayton Kershaw – perhaps the dominant pitcher of this generation — to face him. The swarm sees a bit of a replay of Game One here, too. As the replay below shows, we’ve got a Brainpower on the swarm’s Dodger prediction of over 75%.  We can also see that the great majority of magnets are pulling to the Dodger side of the hex. But, importantly, we don’t see those magnets pulling towards a Houston win capitulating. They’re stubborn, and that’s very interesting. It’s what keeps the Brainpower here from going higher, and represents more doubt than our “Best Bet” prediction the first time these pitchers matched up in the series last week. In tonight’s game, the swarm did risk a $49 hypothetical wager, however, and that tells us that this pick is still in the upper end of the “Proceed with caution” category.
