The Major League baseball season is chugging along now at full throttle, with most teams having played 13 or 14 games on the young season. That’s still less than 10% of the schedule complete, but it is enough to see some emerging trends. The AL East looks like the old days of the AL Beast, with the Orioles, Yankees, and Red Sox poised to fight it out. The National League still doesn’t have any breakout teams yet, something that’s allowed a couple of alleged playoff contenders like San Francisco and St. Louis to survive disastrous starts without being buried early on.
When the weekly swarm of baseball fans assembled by Unanimous A. I. gets together to predict the outcomes of Major League Baseball games, this is the new “data” they have to consider. Teams and players who may have been sure bets last year may struggle out of the gate this season. Because the Swarm AI brought to life by the UNU platform relies on individual participants, it gives them the opportunity to think in a more agile fashion, to adapt quickly when new results begin to supersede old data. That’s very evident in some of this week’s picks.
Two games that serve as excellent examples of the swarm quickly adapting its thinking to the situations presented by a new season. Arizona is in San Diego playing the Padres, and the swarm really likes the Snakes to win that game. Some of the reason may be Zach Greinke, but another part of that may be that Arizona is currently atop the NL West standings, and their potent lineup is knocking the cover off the ball.
The other game that illustrates this aspect beautifully is the San Francisco Giants predicted loss to the Royals in Kansas City. The Giants were a playoff team last year, and the Royals were not, but the swarm seems to be aware of the early season struggles the Giants are having, MadBum or no, as seen by the replay below.
Every week during the MLB season, Unanimous A.I. will be conducting swarms to pick the outcomes of games. If you’d like to either join a swarm or just get the predictions weekly, feel free to drop us a line below.
