An important series can happen at any time in the Major League Baseball season. While many fans may think of only games in the heat of a September pennant chase as being keys to a season, it’s an absolutely true adage that games played in May and June count just the same in the standings. Games in a series between two teams jockeying for first place in the standings are every bit as tough a game to predict, as you’d suspect.
The Baseball Swarm AI has at least one game in that category to pick this week, but they may be up to the task. This twice-weekly swarm of Major League Baseball fans is on a hot streak of late, having gone 10-5 on Tuesday’s schedule. That comes off a terrific week last week, and puts the swarm’s record across the last three sessions at a lofty 31-13.
Tucked away up in the higher reaches of our chart for tonight’s games is the high stakes matchup at Chavez Ravine between the upstart Colorado Rockies and the homestanding Dodgers. The Rockies fell from first into second place over the last week, and if you weren’t paying attention you’d think they’d been playing poorly. But the Rox have won 6 of their last 10 games, a .600 winning percentage that usually accompanies a division leader. Problem is, both the Dodgers and the surprising Arizona Diamondbacks have each won 9 games in that same span.
The series at Los Angeles gives Colorado’s potent offense a chance to re-assert themselves in what looks like an incredibly competitive National League West. If they’re going to win tonight, however, it will have to be against Alex Wood, who along with Clayton Kershaw gives the Dodgers the most potent lefty-lefty starting rotation tandem since Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels dominated for the Phillies a few year ago. The replay above says it all: the swarm is a big believer in the Dodgers and their new ace at home tonight.
Every week during the MLB season, Unanimous A.I. will be conducting swarms to pick the outcomes of games. If you’d like to either join a swarm or just get the predictions weekly, feel free to drop us a line below.
