In the first week of play, the NBA has been fantastic for fans of offense. Teams around the Association have been scoring at an unprecedented rate, as new rules on freedom of movement appear to have left defenses behind. That scoring explosion has created some early intrigue in the standings as expected powerhouses struggle to get things untracked, while scoring-rich teams have romped. The weekly NBA Swarm, mindful of this interesting new paradigm, made the following picks for tonight’s schedule of games.
One team that’s had an interesting start to the season is reigning champion (and perennial powerhouse) Golden State. The Warriors are 3-1 entering action tonight, but haven’t always looked quite like themselves yet. Tonight they’re at home to take on a Washington Wizards team that has injury issues to deal with. Perhaps for that reason, the swarm sees this matchup as a layup for the Steph, KD, and company tonight.
Although Washington is a playoff contender in the East this season, they’re up against it tonight and the swarm’s response in the replay shows it. Although there’s one pesky magnet standing by Washington — and that participant will look like a genius if the Wizards pull the upset – the rest of the swarm forms a strong conviction that this contest is all Warriors tonight. The group reinforced that confidence by making this their pick of the night.
