The NHL comes out of its All-Star break tonight with a packed schedule of 12 games. For most teams, the break represents nearly a week of inactivity in the middle of the season, and there’s always a great deal of uncertainty when teams skate back onto the ice. Will hot streaks continue? Will the time off shake the cobwebs and get a team of under-performers playing well? Those are questions the weekly NHL Swarm had to consider when it picked this evening’s hockey games.
Although the swarm was a little hesitant to go high on a hypothetical bet, they picked the Colorado Avalanche as their best pick of the day today. Colorado is on the road against Vancouver, and might be the team that benefitted most from the All-Star break in the schedule. Although Colorado had won 10 games in a row in mid-January, they dropped their last two games before the pause in the season, and maybe needed that time to recharge and reset for the stretch run of the season.
This is an interesting swarm replay to watch. The swarm “only” managed a $60 confidence on this game, and only managed an 81% Brain Power, which measures how rapidly and cohesively a consensus forms. But if you look at the magnets here, the real difference of opinion the swarm had isn’t based on whether Colorado wins or loses, but rather the margin of victory. Taking that magnet momentum and figuring the two-goal advantage the swarm eventually landed on makes this a good play for the NHL Swarm’s pick of the night.
