Last season when the upstart Maple Leafs took the Washington Capitals to seven games in their first-round playoff series, a lot of smart hockey watchers predicted a huge 2017 season for Toronto. The Leafs struggled out of the gate this year with uneven play, but they’ve found some consistency of late. They’re in action tonight and the weekly NHL Swarm predicted their game, along with a handful of others being skated tonight and tomorrow.
The Maple Leafs’ early season inconsistency is about what could be expected of a young team, but they’ve been on fire lately. Tonight they host the Arizona Coyotes, who also have been playing better of late. Still, the swarm sees this as a mismatch. As the replay shows, our group predicted at least a two-goal win (the single biggest expression of confidence we look at) along with a $100 hypothetical wagering confidence. Those two factors led this to be the swarm’s pick of the night.
