The NBA season can sometimes feel like a sprint. At the end of the first month of the season, it’s tempting to think you know all there is to know about the teams around the Association, and where they’ll likely end up. A lot can happen across 80 games, however, and it’s not unusual for teams to make dramatic movements up – or down – the standings between the fall and late spring. The weekly group of NBA fans who gather on the Swarm AI platform to predict games has to consider this movement as an integral element of its weekly predictions.

At the end of October, you could forgive Houston Rockets fans for being a little bit antsy. Although many prognosticators had picked the franchise to finish in the top two or three in the Western Conference, two ugly losses to Memphis and hard-fought defeat to Philadelphia left them reeling with a mediocre 5-3 record. But, the NBA season isn’t a sprint. No trophies are awarded for winning games in October. And since then, the Rockets have been in orbit, winning 20 of their 21 games, including a 14-game streak coming into tonight.
