UNU BASEBALL ROLLS ON, GENERATES 20% ROI

Three weeks into the UNU Baseball prediction experiment, here’s what we know:

Picking games is hard. But Swarms are smart, and thinking together is a lot of fun. 

What is the UNU Baseball Swarm? This is an anonymous group of baseball fans from all across the internet who meet regularly online to harness the power of Swarm Intelligence to predict major league baseball games. Swarm Intelligence is an artificial intelligence technique modeled after flocks of birds, schools of fish, and swarms of bees, and has been proven to amplify the wisdom of groups by pooling the knowledge and intuition of all the participants.  So, UNU Baseball is all about using the power of swarming to make good predictions and, in turn, make some money.

We started the UNU Baseball Swarm because betting on baseball is inherently difficult. With so many games being played, so many match-ups, and so many factors, any team can beat any other on any night.  This means nobody, human or swarm, can make perfect picks.  Betting on baseball is about consistency, not perfection.  And so far, that’s what the swarm has been doing – coming out ahead, week after week, with consistent returns, as described below.

This is what it looks like when the UNU Baseball Swarm makes a prediction.

And so far, the Swarm has been excellent in picking games. A few weeks into this experiment, not only is the Swarm outperforming the average user ( the true reason for Swarming ) but it’s picking winners a brisk 64% of the time.  This week, for example, the UNU Baseball Swarm was asked to pick 15 MLB games, and the Swarm correctly identified 9 winners and 1 game that was too close to call. That 9-5 record matches the win percentage of the Swarm’s overall record of 25-14. That consistency matters, too. Last week, the best performing individual beat the Swarm, but that same user only went 5-9 in this week’s games.

More importantly, if you had followed the Swarms advice, you’d have made a 20% Return on Investment. In a world where hedge-fund managers struggle to beat the market, much less generate a 10% or 20% ROI, the Swarm’s week in and week out returns are impressive.  A full rundown of the Swarm’s picks with replays and payouts, is available at the bottom of this post.
