A new study to be presented at the AI for Industries conference (IEEE Ai4i 2019), showed that business teams connected by AI technology could significantly amplify their combined intelligence as measured on a standard IQ test. Using an intelligence test called the Raven’s Standard Progressive Matrices (RSPM), business teams were tested either (i) working alone, (ii) working together by majority vote, or (iii) collaborating in real-time using Swarm AI, a technology that enables networked teams to converge on optimal solutions using AI algorithms modeled after swarms in nature.

The results were impressive. The average individual scored 53.7% correct on the IQ test. The average team working together by majority vote, scored 56.7% correct. While the average team connected by Swarm AI technology achieved 76.7% correct. This translates to an IQ amplification using AI of 14 points as compared to individuals and an increase of 12 IQ points as compared to group vote.

These results are consistent with prior studies showing that networked human teams, when working together using Swarm AI technology, can significantly amplify their collective intelligence, enabling more accurate decisions, forecasts, evaluations and prioritizations. In one recent study conducted at Stanford University School of Medicine, groups of radiologists used Swarm AI to collaboratively diagnose chest x-rays. Published results showed a 33% reduction in diagnostic errors when using Swarm AI. In a recent study conducted at California Polytechnic, business teams were shown to be 22% more accurate when making subjective judgments when using Swarm AI technology.
