Week 2 of the NFL Season is in the books! Count us as among those newly in love with Carson Wentz. From Bruising (NDSU) Bison, to Soaring (Philadelphia) Eagle, the guy is a winner. And the Swarm certainly agreed last week. Our group of 20+ NFL fans not only liked Wentz’s Eagles to cover the spread, they picked them to win outright, on the road, in Chicago. And BOOM, Wentz and company delivered a 29-14 victory.
That game turned out to be a great way to close out the Swarm’s week, allowing us to enjoy an 8-4-1 record and an 11% Return on Investment. Here is a summary of the picks we made. This was based on the Swarm’s outputs we documented here.
Picking the underdog Eagles to win outright was perhaps the highlight, but there were a couple other picks in which the Swarm was prescient. Picking the Atlanta Falcons (+4) @ Oakland was a solid pick, as the Falcons managed to win on the road in Oakland on a deflected pass in the fourth quarter. And being conservative and picking Carolina Straight Up paid off in the 49ers-Panthers game, in which Carolina was favored by almost 2 touchdowns.
Of course, it never hurts to get a little lucky. At the time that we predicted Baltimore to be a good ATS bet vs. Cleveland, they were -6. But by the time we placed a wager, the line had shifted to -5. Flacco and the Ravens of course needed a massive comeback to overcome a 20-2 deficit to win by 25-20. A push.
